NASSCOM 2.0 discusses “Skilling and Employability for fresh graduates”

IT industry body Nasscom organized the Mysore 2.0 Conference on October 15, an event to showcase Mysore as an IT destination. The conference had over 300 Delegates, including CEOs, CIOs from IT-BPO and diverse sectors including manufacturing and services sectors. 25+ eminent industry experts speaking at various sessions and diverse mix of companies covering IT products and services, BPO, SEZ and IT Park Infrastructure developers, Start-ups, Incubation Centres etc participated. The conference brought together various stakeholders including Corporates, investors, government officials, policy makers and academia to interact & network. Over the past decade Mysore has carved a niche for itself as a preferred IT destination for companies focusing on IT product development, R&D, e-commerce and training.

Thought leaders and entrepreneurs suggested ways for companies in Mysore to set themselves apart. There were many other important panel discussions and Key notes presentations, including “Skilling and Employability for fresh graduates.” Revathi Kasturi CEO of Laqsh Job Skills Academy led this panel discussion. The other panel members were Dr. Mahesh Rao, Professor & Head-Computer Science & Engineering SJCE, University of Mysore; Kamala Prabhashankar, Global Delivery Manager SPI; Venkatesh S V, CEO RiiiT and Jithendra Pathak, Head-Delivery Remote Services Wipro Infotech. Core Employability skills, Communication skills and Professional skills were identified as skills that freshers do not have. These factors being the need of the hour were something all the panel members agreed upon. The discussion was lively and many opinions were shared. The audience participated well and raised some pertinent questions.
