In Service training and induction of Electronics & Hardware Vocational Trainers
A two-day vocational training program was held at RICM Chandigarh Sector 32, Punjab from 26.06.2023 to 28.06.2023 on Electronics and Hardware trade. The objective of this program was to give training to 31 newly appointed vocational trainers from this trade; to brief them about the job roles they were training the students on; to make them understand the work of a vocational trainer as well as the strategic goals and objectives of the NSQF program. This program was funded by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Punjab and organized by the LAQSH Job Skills Academy Pvt Ltd team.
All 31 newly appointed vocational trainers along with 2 coordinators Simranjit Singh and Gurjeet Singh came to Chandigarh to attend this training program. Hostels were arranged for these 33 people to stay for along with food.
This is the first time an offline training program has been organized since covid. The last such program was held in 2017. After that all the training programs were held online. Needless to say, there was a high level of communication and interaction between trainers during this training program. Instructors trained the vocational trainers on theory and practical. Each day there were 2 sessions, one in the morning, and another in the afternoon.

DAY 1
On the first day in the morning session the basics of electronics was covered, where topics such as introduction to electricity, basic electrical terms, safety measures were covered.
In the afternoon session LED bulbs was the topic. How LED bulb works, its advantages, identifying problems, fixing common problems were discussed.
DAY 2
On day two, motors, electric fans, solar panel and installation were covered. Key points highlighted were on installation of solar panels involving several steps to ensure proper placement, wiring, and functionality. Some assignments were assigned to vocational trainers on that day.
In the afternoon session there was a recap of all the topics that were taught in these two days. The Vocational Trainers had to review the key concepts they had learnt and make presentations to the class. This further reinforced the learning. In the end there was a Q&A session, where participants asked questions and cleared any doubts they had.
During these 2 days of training period, instructors made sure training was engaging and trainers were able to understand everything. Instructors mainly focused on practical learning that is why various instruments and appliances were used during the training period ensuring vocational trainers learn everything thoroughly and practically.
From the feedback form collected after the program it was clear that trainers learnt very valuable information from this training. This training program gave them a basic idea about how to teach students, what are their career goals, and their role as a vocational trainer.
Throughout the training, it was emphasized on how important safety precautions, hands-on learning, and real-world problem-solving are. Practical exercises should be a significant part of each day’s session to ensure participants gain practical skills. Additionally, participants were provided with reference materials, such as repair manuals and troubleshooting guides, for future reference.
The training program has surely enhanced their skills and knowledge which will help them in their vocational trainer roles. They were very happy with the instructors whom they said were very helpful and supportive, clearing every doubt they had. All the sessions were very engaging and informative was the overall feedback. The Vocational trainers were also very happy to have got the chance to interact with other trainers. This will be very important in the future as they support one another. They also were appreciative of the food and accommodation that was provided to them. Through this training, vocational trainers were taught to aim to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enabling the students to excel in the Electronics Trade field. This is very important as our vocational trainers’ guidance and expertise will play a pivotal role in our students’ learning journey.
